Young Choreographers South West is a scheme open to young people aged 18-25 who are passionate about creating dance for performance or participation, who love to be challenged and inspired and to meet internationally renowned choreographers.
Twenty-two young people aged 18-25 were involved in Young Choreographer South West 2015. We try to capture a little bit of choreographic magic to inspire them each year and this year our residencies in Dartington (organised by Dance in Devon) and Bournemouth featured Laila Daillo, Marc Brew, Luca Silvestrini and Dan Canham.
Five of the Young Choreographers were supported to create a new piece of work, which was shown to dance industry folk at the end of June.

I have learnt to be confident and to believe in myself as nothing is ever wrong or right as long as you can justify why you chose to do that if you need too! I have learnt more skills to do with working with other people and something particularly interesting about the weekend was working with wheelchairs which is not something I have ever done before! – Participant 2015
