It doesn't seem possible that it's been almost a year since our very first Discover, Play, Dream: Dance! last July. But here we are, ready to kick off our second summer festival with a packed schedule of dance performances and chances to get involved.
Over the first weekend (1-2 July) we'll be venturing out beyond Bournemouth with a trip to Poole Museum with two days of family performance Made by Katie Green's The Imagination Museum - a museum tour with a dance twist for the whole family. We'll also be taking a trip to Castlepoint Shopping Centre for Casson & Friends' The Dance WE Made - the record-breaking interactive dance performance that invites YOU to be the choreographer - and maybe we'll do a tiny bit of shopping too. On the Sunday we'll be taking a trip over to Boscombe High Street for Bournemouth favourites Company Chameleon's Of Man & Beast - a mixture of Rage Against the Machine, athleticism and beauty in an unforgettable dance piece about male group dynamics
You can also get moving at our two Dancing Terraces: On Tour sessions over this first weekend. Jasmine Taylor will be leading a Creative Dance session at The Red House Museum (Saturday 1 July, 12pm) and Ruby Adams will lead a 1940s session at Highcliffe Castle (Sunday 2 July, 12pm).
On Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 July, you can experience physical Theatre, interactive Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies and an art installation in AΦE's Whist in our very own Seafront Studio.
We'll be sharpening our pencils and dusting off our easels in our second Drawing Dancing session over in the AUB Drawing Studio.
For the second weekend (8-9 July) we'll be staying a bit closer to home with the Urban Carnival Roadshow on the PDSW terraces on Saturday. You'll be able to feel the sand between your toes during Simon Birch Dance's utterly magical dance and choral event, Shoreline - also on Saturday. Gandini Juggling will be making a right ruddy mess on our terraces with 80 apples, 9 performers, 4 crockery sets on Sunday 9 July in Smashed. And we'll also be speeding on down to Bournemouth Triangle to take a trip with Clive, Hank, Steve and Stanley, the 1980s Ford Orion, in Zoielogic Dance Theatre's Ride.
