Female clown/slapstick performer/comedy actress needed for a Charlie Chaplin inspired short film in association with Channel 4. The piece will potentially be broadcast on Channel 4 and has been funded by Channel 4’s Random Acts initiative to tour round festivals and possibly even cinemas.
This project is going to be great fun and, because it has been supported by the Random Acts initiative, it’ll be pretty spectacular too! The perfect opportunity to bolster your CV with a stunning, high-end, show-reel piece with great exposure.
THE FILM: A black and white silent comedy providing a contemporary, feminist twist on Charlie Chaplin’s ‘Modern Times’.
SALARY: Low to medium payment dependent on experience and travel expenses.
DETAILS: Need to be free for 2 full days of rehearsals in mid-Jan and for two days of shooting around the 27th-30th of January. – Must provide a showreel/video of clowning/physical comedy performance – My main focus is finding someone with great comic timing, mannerisms, and facial expressions, rather than specific circus skills. You need to be able to get into the style of 1920s/1930s silent movie ‘acting’, pratfalls, and silliness. – Must have previous performance experience (although you do not need to have ever done a short film before) – Must be easily contactable throughout January (I will need to contact you about measurements for costumes etc.) – Must be in England throughout January in case we need to arrange face-to-face meetings.
