Artistic Excellence is an opportunity offered by Creative Youth Network which started in 2014. The project provides those with an aspiration and enthusiasm to progress their creative practice and professionalism to the next level. Whether it is to create a new piece of work, develop portfolios and networks, or to explore ideas and inspiration.
Supported by Arts Council England this pilot project looks to identify a way of helping young creatives in dance, visual arts, music, performance, theatre, digital and multimedia backgrounds aged 16 to 25 years old. The project helps each of those involved with their own practice to create new and innovative work in the city centre of Bristol at The Station.
What’s on offer
The Artistic Excellence project provides four artists or collectives with the following over three months:
· Studio space
· Professional mentoring
· Residency opportunities
· Work placements / professional experience
· Money to make new work
· Showcase opportunities of new work
What we’re looking for
Committed young people at the start of their creative profession and career who have a drive and passion for creating new work and developing themselves but who might not have had the opportunity to do so before. Ideally we’d like people with an idea, whether it is to make a new piece of work, organise an event, start a new online zine, that kind of thing, who can use this opportunity to do it and be part of a fun and supportive project and space.
How to apply
We’re looking for four new young artists, musicians, dancers, choreographers, performers, writers, designers…. basically anyone with a creative vision, idea and passion to apply for this opportunity.
All you need to do to apply is send us a proposal of why you’d like to be involved, what you could bring to the project and what you’d like to develop and / or work on during the three months.
Applications can be as creative as you see fit but must be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org by 5pm on the 9th May 2016.
Deadline of applications: Monday 9th May at 5pm
Interviews / auditions: Friday 13th May
Project start: the week of the 16th May
Showcasing of new work and end of project: End of July
Where the project is taking place
The project will mainly be based at The Station, Silver Street, Bristol, but will include trips and opportunities to work in other organisations and creative spaces.
