Vincent Dance Theatre (VDT) makes crucial performance for the critical times in which we live.

Artistic Director / Choreographer Charlotte Vincent and her brilliant, cross-generational ensemble have been ‘moving people and making them think’ since 1994, distributing productions on stage, on film and online to place the work at the heart of public debate. Recent productions include the acclaimed all male production SHUT DOWN, touring the UK in Spring 2019, SHUT DOWN FILM INSTALLATION and its sister work VIRGIN TERRITORY FILM INSTALLATION. 

VDT’s ART OF ATTACHMENT production, made in collaboration with substance misuse charity Brighton Oasis Project, premiered in October 2018 and is currently being transformed into 6 short films for distribution from April 2019 onwards.

Acclaimed by The Observer (UK) as ‘funny, fearless and flintily determined, Vincent is one of the most important feminist artists working in Britain today’, creating ‘astonishingly original’ (New York Times) productions with a ‘crackling intellectual core’ (The Guardian, UK).

VDT’s productions make significant claims for gender politics, and increasingly for social change. Productions are formed out of and accompanied by a wide range of participation activity:

Vincent also mentors a range of mid-career artists, is widely acknowledged for supporting parenting in performing arts and campaigning for gender equality #VDTEverydayAction in all aspects of the company’s work, both on and off the stage.

Vincent Dance Theatre is a National Portfolio Organisation, funded by Arts Council England. VDT is based in Brighton, UK, and Associate Company at Brighton Dome. VDT was twice nominated in the UK’s Critics Circle Dance Awards in 2017.

Relationship with PDSW:

VDT was a PDSW Dream Artist from January 2019-March 2020.

Part of this relationship has brought together three performances between Spring 2019 and Spring 2020, to be performed at PDSW, including SHUTDOWN, ‘Virgin Territory’ and VDT’s newest work in creation throughout 2019/2020, ‘In Loco Parentis’. The latter work was screened in March 2020.
