Business Come Dancing Summer Ball 2016 launched to raise money in support for people with Parkinson’s

After the success of last year’s fundraising event in December, Pavilion Dance South West and Lewis-Manning Hospice are delighted to announce the launch of a “Business Come Dancing Summer Ball”, jointly organised by the two charities to raise funds for their work in providing help and support for people with Parkinson’s.

The launch event was held on Wednesday, 30th March, at the Sandbanks Hotel. After a short introduction of the two charities, the participants from local businesses were partnered up with their professional dance partners. The couples will rehearse over the coming 12 weeks and then perform at the Business Come Dancing Summer Ball on Friday, 24th June.

This year we are pleased to welcome: Sophie Cox from The Koh Group, Sophie Hudson from Seventa, Kieren Criddle from Barclays, Vanessa Ugatti from The True Worth Expert, Donna Douch from IAAM Salon, Lucy York from My Herbal Life, Sharon Canning from Move On Rentals and Sue Franklin from Poole Together.

We are very pleased to be working with Lewis-Manning Hospice again this year. Our Bournemouth Parkinson’s Dance Class provides such a lifeline for its participants, not just because of the physical benefits, i.e. improvement to balance, coordination and posture, but also because of its social aspects of mutual support and camaraderie. It is wonderful that so many people have volunteered to support the class and the fantastic work done at Lewis-Manning Hospice – we are hoping to see some amazing performances in June!” says Helga Brandt, Head of Marketing and Development at Pavilion Dance South West.

Maria Tidy, Fundraising Manager at Lewis-Manning Hospice, adds, “We are delighted to be working with Pavilion Dance South West, and in particular Parkinson’s Dance, on this fantastic event. Fifty percent of our Day Hospice patients have Parkinson’s disease and we recognise the profound benefits that dance and music can have both physically and spiritually.”
