Call for Artists: Testing Ground

On Thursday 23rd March 2017 Circomedia will be hosting Testing Ground, a performance platform for dance work.

This is an open call to dance artists and companies, emerging or established, to test new performance ideas in front of a live audience.

Theatre Bristol are looking for up to 5 pieces of dance/dancetheatre work that are between 5 and 15 minutes in duration. Whatever stage of development your work is at, we are interested to hear from you. We aim for the platform to be highly supportive and nurturing for the artists involved, and an interactive opportunity for audiences, offering them an insight into new work.

We endeavour to bring together an interested and relevant audience, in order to open up a genuine dialogue that will help develop the work further. All performers will have the opportunity to receive feedback on their work through a question and answer session with the audience.

The focus of Testing Ground is dialogue and experiment. It is a platform to present the beginnings and possibilities of work and to share that through dialogue with the audience.

Therefore there will be no lighting specials, no riders and no early get-in. Testing Ground is just that – not a showcase event.

The deadline for applications is 9am Wednesday 15th February

Testing Ground is presented in partnership with Theatre Bristol, Circomedia and Bath Dance. Testing Ground is supported by Laila Diallo.
