Breathe champions the right for everyone to have dance and movement available to them as one way to support their health and happiness, which is particularly relevant to an ageing society. Twenty per cent of the population in the ‘traditional’ South West region were 65+ in 2012 and this will increase in the years ahead. But although we have a strong focus on developing work by, with and for older people we also consider work to meet public health priorities such as tackling obesity.

Our dance partners in the region-wide Breathe Action Group hold expertise in specialist fields such as Dance on Prescription, Dance and Cancer Treatment, Tea Dances with a Twist, Dance and Parkinson’s and Dance and Dementia. The Breathe Action Group meets twice a year to set strategy and discuss issues and opportunities. Current membership includes regional dance partners, Arts & Health Cornwall and Arts & Health SW.
