Our 2022 Digital Commission was awarded to Brooke Milliner

Selected through open call in February 2022, Brooke created “Swipe Right” – a new interactive Screendance work which premiered in November 2022 featuring both captioned and audio described versions.

Swipe Right is an original, Hip Hop digital dance work that explores the concept of online validation through social media. Bringing together some of the UK’s finest street dancers, Swipe Right shines a light on this widely accepted aspect of modern culture, inviting the viewer to make decisions about what happens next to deliver a poignant message on the consequences of digital connection.

Brooke said: “I was excited to receive the Pavilion Dance Digital Commission 2022 to develop Swipe Right. This commission has given me the opportunity to test new digital techniques such as branching, and use them to tell stories through screendance for the first time. It’s been brilliant to create work that shows the versatility of hip hop styles, something I strive to continue in the future.
