Jane Hackett is Artistic Programmer and Producer for Creative Learning at Sadler’s Wells, Director of the National Youth Dance Company and also works as a writer and Dance Consultant, including BBC Young Dancer. Jane has worked internationally as a dancer, choreographer, dramaturg and director, in places ranging from small community venues to international theatres and Opera Houses. She is an experienced teacher, programmer and producer and has developed many cross-arts projects, collaborating with artists, writers, composers and film makers. Jane was the recipient of a Churchill Fellowship, travelling to Chile, Mexico and Cube to research older dancers and lifelong creativity, which was the Impetus for creating Sadler's Wells Elixir Festival, in celebration of older dancers.
Previous employment includes directing two national Conservatoires, Director of Learning for Birmingham Royal Ballet and schemes for the Royal Opera house and BRB to increase diversity and access to training and careers in Dance, as well as professional development programmes for dancers, choreographers and teachers, including initiating three degree courses. Jane has an MA in Dance Studies, is a published author, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Artistic Assessor for Arts Council England and former Vice-chair of Dance UK.
