An inspiration for International Women’s Day and beyond, Dame Darcey Bussell DBE visited Pavilion Dance South West this month to inspire young and older generations alike. From Arts University Bournemouth dance students who spent time with her asking questions and advice, to a whole range of fans and admirers from near and far as she spent time to meet and greet guests before her show.

Some driving over 4 hours to come and meet her and be part of the audience to hear stories of her career and her time on Strictly Come Dancing.

As part of an ongoing professional speaker programme it was a privilege to host such a dance icon at Pavilion Dance South West and see the impact that she has, across such a wide range of generations.

Zannah Chisholm, Artistic Director and CEO: “It was fantastic to host Dame Darcey Bussell DBE at Pavilion Dance South West. She is a real inspiration to many and it was great to see her in conversation with the next generation of dancers from Arts University Bournemouth before the show, and then to hear her many career highlights and anecdotes from her Strictly days, and importantly everything she continues to do now to inspire people to dance. An absolute legend and fabulous to have her as part of our professional speaker programme.”

10/10 – “Wonderfully organised, brilliant atmosphere. I look forward to my next visit!”

10/10 – “We are still on a complete ‘Ballet High’ after the wonderful evening with Darcey Bussell at Pavilion Dance.”

An absolute inspiration to be recognised on International Women’s Day and beyond.
