Lizzie Sykes, Artist in Residence at Mottisfont, is looking for a dancer to collaborate with, to create  an innovative, site specific short dance film project.

About the project: Looking for a dancer to work site specifically at Mottisfont, Hampshire, with the current artist in residence who is a filmmaker and screen artist. The aim is to make a short (2 mins approx.) dance film, using an octocopter (a flying camera).

This dancer needs to be energetic, edgy and distinctive – someone who can visually stand out from the landscape. The dancer can be male or female, but must be comfortable with being filmed! This is a collaboration, so we are interested in your interpretation.

We will need a minimum of two days devising and two evenings shooting (5 – 8pm). The project will take place between the end of July and mid September 2014. There is a budget for wages and expenses. The work will be shown at the gallery in Mottisfont, and also in dance film festivals and gallery spaces.

Please contact Lizzie Sykes at lsykes@bournemouth.ac.uk by 28th July 2014.

About Lizzie Sykes: I’m a Senior Lecturer, screen artist and filmmaker. My work is site specific and primarily concerned with the moving image, movement and landscape. Please see vimeo.com/lizziesykes as well as my staff page at Bournemouth University.

The art I produce explores, subverts or reshapes existing moving image technology, either in terms of cameras, pieces of cameras, grip equipment or using multi screen exhibition software. These projects are the result of a series of immersive collaborations: at once intuitive, technical and responsive to a particular place at a particular time.
