Origins 2022 was a magical day! Youth dance was well & truly back in Bournemouth. On Sunday 13th March 2022 youth groups came together from the region & took part in workshops, a beach challenge, rehearsals & a live platform performance.

Best of all, we all had the chance to connect with new friends & catch-up with old ones! PDSW were delighted to welcome Stacked Wonky, RISE Youth Dance, Siya, Dorset Youth Dance Company, HYDC, Coast, FuzzyLogic, Ryde Academy & Swindon Youth Dance Company to our venue.

It was also a way to celebrate the brilliant talents of our young dancers, see what they have been creating & learn from one another.

Edd Arnold was our very special guest dance artist, inspiring our young dancers and he worked them hard. Our thanks to National Youth Dance Company for sponsoring this workshop.

Origins 2022 was a live and digital youth dance platform showcasing dance from across Cornwall, Devon, Avon & Somerset, Wiltshire, Hampshire & Dorset. We also streamed fabulous digital dance work created by young people & their dance teachers.

Congratulations to our friends at Hampshire Youth Dance Company @hydc.thepoint who have been chosen representatives from the SW region for the U.Dance National Festival in Birmingham in July. Well done also to our friends at Swindon Dance Youth Company  & Stacked Wonky who were shortlisted this year.

Well done also to our friends KBSK & Bridport Youth Dance who have been chosen to represent the region & have their film showcased as part of the U.Dance on Screen National Showcases. Their films will be aired in cinemas in Birmingham & London.

The U.Dance National Festival 2022 will be a weekend in Birmingham (22-24 July) of live & digital dance masterclasses, showcases, careers talks and information sessions for young people, engaging the best dancers and dance leaders in the country to share their skills.

Origins 2022 was incredibly special to connect with everyone and see one another in person. Until the next time!
