CALL- OUT for two dancers/performers; ideally one male and one female Closing Date:- Friday 5th September 2014 midday Jayne Devlin is seeking to meet two very special dancers/performers to contribute to her new project “Moments of breath and hand jive”, which is one strand of the Home Service Project – run by Hall for Cornwall in association with Arts for Health Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly. This is funded by Arts Council England and the Baring Foundation.

Background Information: “Moments of breath and hand jive” is a pilot project which aims to deliver high quality dance performance and dance activities/experiences to residents in older persons residential care settings in Cornwall. The aim of the project is to create a series of carefully choreographed mini dance performances, which are structured around a central theme (for this project the theme will be loosely based around the musical Calamity Jane), and are performed within a pattern of participatory dance activities. The dances will be performed within different areas of the care setting and aim to interact and connect with as many people as possible. Essential skills needed. • A background or knowledge of contemporary dance is an advantage but more importantly is the ability to draw on a variety of dance genres and styles. • A playful approach to devising/improvising/performing/and entertaining people. • An ability to improvise in challenging situations. • Dancers will be required to engage and contribute fully throughout the devising period and will be required to reflect on the process and the performances. • Must possess a genuine interest in performing in unique settings and potentially challenging situations. • Due to the nature of where the work will be delivered, successful dancers need to be conscientious, reliable and trustworthy, whilst also possessing a genuine enjoyment of meeting a variety of people. • Access to own transport. • Dancers based in Cornwall or with a Cornwall connection are preferred. • Previous experience in this field is not essential. Please note. The most important trait the successful dancers need to possess is the absolute love of dance and theatre, and the desire to share this with an audience. The duration of the project will be during September, October and November and dancers must be available on a variety of dates during this time. Audition date:- Thursday 11th September 2014 at Carleen Daycare Centre, Helston
