Supported Artist, Joss Arnott’s has released the first of two films created under the DANCE:CONNECTS project.It is a choreographic response to PULSE!, originally inspired Artistic Director Joss’s fascination with how as humans we create a series of connections that unite us through movement and music.
DANCE:CONNECTS aims to build on the connections made between local, regional and national communities in these times of transformation change and is inspired by the need for society to continue that connection in our new world.
The response celebrates those new connections, empowering dancers, children, families and communities to create a social connection through movement, culminating in an isolation digital flash mob that took place on Thursday 2nd July 2020, 19:30 (GMT).
Choreographed by Joss, he was able to;
– Work with and financially support 23 independent professional dance artists
– Work with schools, community groups, education institutes and training programmes to offer a chance to connect people locally, nationally and internationally during the current times of isolation.
– Offer digital dance and engagement opportunities via our Learn at Home video tutorials, that also allow families and people in Isolation to take part and learn, in their own time and space.
– Create accessible, captioned and British Sign Language video content for our audiences.
The mass isolation online flash mob took take place on Thursday 2nd July 2020, 19:30 (GMT) with hundreds of people across the UK and overseas engaging with the activity.
Each participant was invited to go live under the #JADPULSE hashtag or record themselves performing the choreography and post their video. We then asked all participants to send us a recording or section of the performance to curate a DANCE:CONNECTS – PULSE! 2.0 video, mapping everyone’s performances and celebrating our connection.
The two dance films go live on THURSDAY 30TH JULY 2020 and THURSDAY 6TH AUGUST 2020.
