This week we’ve been soaring across the skies in local BCP schools to bring a little theatre magic with our ‘Skydiver’ workshops.  Ahead of this half term show on 15th February dance artist Francesca Matthys has ignited children’s imaginations in several schools as part of the BCP Cultural Hub programme initiative.

“They’ve enjoyed it so much, it’s been fantastic for them.  It was just so lovely.”

(Pokesdown Primary School teacher)

Over 550 children in Early Years (Reception) and Year One from St Katharine’s Primary, St Luke’s Primary, Pokesdown Community Primary, St Mary’s Catholic Primary, Heathlands Primary and St Ives Primary & Nursery Schools have enjoyed taking part in these workshops adapted from the show, hopping on clouds, balancing like flamingoes and soaring into the skies.

This has been great, the children are so focused (Year One support teacher)

The Skydiver show created by Xenia Aidonopoulou is a captivating dance encounter aimed at inspiring young children’s imagination and curiosity.  Our workshops are all part of giving children the experience of theatre and the arts and this show is a wonderful introduction for those that may not have experienced live theatre before.  The show runs this half term at 11am & 2pm on Thursday 15th Feb in our Ocean Theatre with all tickets priced at £6.

A huge thank you to the BCP Cultural Hub, dance artist Francesca Matthys, the Pavilion Dance team and all the schools for making this such a great experience!
