In March 2024 we were delighted to partner with Dorset Chamber to host an exclusive Trustee and Board matching event funded by Arts Council England.  This event brought together Dorset Chamber businesses with local arts charities and not for profit organisations, fostering discussions about the rewarding experience of volunteering as a Trustee for individuals and the value to businesses.

Guest speakers and topics included:

Toby Marden, Pavilion Dance Trustee – Why become a charity trustee?
Tony Brown, Dorset Chamber of Commerce President & local business owner – What’s the benefit to your organisation?
Rosanna Sloan, Interim CEO Arts Development Company – What’s the benefit to a charity?
Amy Collins, Community Action Network – What’s involved in being a charity trustee?

The event gave businesses and individuals the opportunity to explore different charities and not for profit organisations, to discover the incredible work they contribute to the local community and the opportunities to be involved.  Overall feedback was very positive from both businesses and individuals with a number of potential trustee meetings set up following the event.

“Have met two possible trustees and also understood more about what is required, how to approach and engage potential trustees. Also useful to chat with other charities and share knowledge, thank you!”
“Excellent event.  Well organised & definitely I would attend again”

The charity organisations attending included Activate Performing Arts, Artsreach, Diverse City, Dorset Visual Arts, Museum of East Dorset, Pavilion Dance South West, The Arts Development Company, The Power House Poole, Russell Cotes Art Gallery & Museum, Elevate Foundation and Dorset Scrapstore.
