One Dance UK is hosting its biennial Bloom – the national festival of Dance of the African Diaspora – nationwide throughout the summer. Bloom explores and celebrates dance from Africa and its diaspora through performances, workshops and discussions across the UK.
Bloom gives a glimpse of the dance talent that is growing in our communities and raises awareness of the art forms to new audiences and new spaces.
This year, Bloom was launched at The Place on 10 May, with a showcase event featuring three performances by three female choreographers working with African diasporic dance styles. The festival will unfold at event chapters across the country in Bournemouth, Liverpool, London, Bristol, Glasgow, Leeds and Birmingham from June to November 2017.
Working with regional partners, events will take place at key venues including Bristol Museum and Art Gallery, London’s Southbank Centre, Pavilion Dance South West, Moonshot Centre, Sefton Park, Bernie Grant Arts Centre, Trinity Arts Centre, bbodance Studio, Tramway and Rambert.
