Pavilion Dance South West are delighted and honoured to have been chosen as one of the Mayor’s Charities in 2017-18, alongside Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum and Hannah Levy House Trust. The Mayor, Councillor Lawrence Williams, announced his chosen charities at the Annual Council Meeting on 26th May 2017.
Pavilion Dance South West (PDSW) is one of only five purpose-built dance houses in the UK and the regional dance development organisation for the South West. PDSW is a registered charity that operates in partnership with Arts Council England (as National Portfolio Organisation), Bournemouth Borough Council and BH Live. PDSW’s work centres around five priority areas in connecting people with dance, including dance and health, dance by and for children and young people, developing artists and audiences.
Zannah Doan, CEO of Pavilion Dance South West, commented, “We are delighted that the work we do for communities in Bournemouth and beyond is being recognised and are looking forward to contribute to the Mayor’s Appeal throughout the coming year. Dance plays such an important role in improving people’s health and wellbeing, and our high-quality contemporary performance programme of nationally and internationally renowned artists is an important contribution to Bournemouth’s cultural offer.”
Pavilion Dance South West will be involved in several fundraising activities throughout the Mayoral Year, including a “Strictly”-style fundraising gala and a quiz night.
