MEET THE COMPANY
Dia duit! My name is Ama and right now I am in Year 11 getting ready for my GCSEs. I grew up in the Republic of Ireland but moved over to Dorset in 2015. Even though I left my life there behind, dance has stayed with me the entire time! It has always been a way for me to express myself and to relax (as well as performing in Drama and Music) and COAST and given me a way to do that. Also I’m a complete Marvel nerd J
Hi, my name is Ellen. I’m in my first year at college and I’m taking A level dance, psychology and PE. I am very passionate about sport and dance and am looking at being a personal trainer. I have done ballet, tap and modern and taught children ballet and tap. I have only just joined COAST and am LOVING it already.
Hi, my name is Ellis and I am a dancer at COAST Youth Dance Company. Currently, I am studying at sixth form and I enjoy exploring my creative freedom through dance in my spare time. I am new to CYDC and to me what was most attractive was the diverse range of styles available to study with the company. However, since participating in class I have discovered the wonderful sense of family that is fundamental to the core of Pavilion Dance.
Hi my name’s Evie. I’m in Year 9 currently studying a range of subjects and I’m going to choose my GCSEs at the end of the year. At PDSW I’m a part of COAST Youth Dance Company learning different styles from choreographers. Outside of school I’m also part of a ballet school taking part in shows and practicing technique.
Hi I’m Gracie. I’m in my second year of sixth form and I joined COAST to try to stretch myself and push my limits. My ambition is to do a degree in Contemporary Dance and from there I would like to be able to join a professional dance company. I love choreography and creative work as well as performing and technique and want to gain as much from my time in COAST as possible.
Hello! My name is Hope! I am in my second year of my GCSE’s. I’m studying dance, drama, PE, history, French and core subjects! I only discovered dancing 18 months ago and joined COAST in 2017! I’m originally from London and I’m always found hiking now I live in Dorset. My favourite West End shows always change but ‘Dreamgirls’ was the first one I saw! I love being part of CYDC as it’s so welcoming and I have learnt so much from weekly rehearsals, the residencies as well as the teachers at school!
My name is Kathryn and I am currently in my last year of GCSE’s studying history, Spanish, drama and business. I started at COAST in 2017 and I really enjoy it as I have made lots of new friends and we get to work with great choreographers and companies. Overall contemporary is my favourite style of dance however, I do Ballet as well.
Hi, I’m Katy and I am currently in my first year at Highcliffe sixth form. I have recently joined COAST Youth Dance Company, however, I have been a part of the Pavilion Dance family for 8 years partaking in Hip-Hop and Youth Contemporary. Dance is my way of expressing how I’m feeling at that point in time; I find it a release! For me, I believe movement is an art form and I enjoy creating physical art pieces.
Hi. My Name is Tess and I am currently in year 10. In COAST Youth Dance Company I love the unity and the team motivation. Alongside dance I do gymnastics and circus arts. I specialise in aerial hoop and hope to follow circus into a career. It is my personal goal to attend the National Centre for Circus Arts based in London. I find that dance improves my performance and gives me confidence in my work.
My name is Zavier. I’m in my final year at Brockenhurst College and I’m also COAST Youth Dance Company’s representative. I am interested in experimental movement and art. COAST gives me the opportunity to create and learn from other young artists and choreographers right by Bournemouth’s wonderful seaside!
My name is Ellen and I have been a member of Coast Youth Dance Company for two years and have loved every second of it! Contemporary dance is my favourite style however out side of CYDC I also have a keen interest is classical ballet which I have been studying for 15 years.
At school I am studying for 3 a-levels of which Theatre Studies is my favourite. One of my favourite elements of dance is how it tells the audience a story without the use of words and this has translated into my studies. I hope to make a career out of contemporary dance and am now a member of the Rambert Pre-vocational course as well as having been a Ballet Boost Associate for 2 years previously.
CYDC is an amazing group of people who have been a large factor in my love for contemporary dance and they continue to inspire me every day.
Hi, i’m 16 years old and currently studying at Brockenhurst College. I’ve always been interested in dance from a young age but only really got into it when I began secondary school. This is when I decided to find a dance class to be a part of, hence why I began the youth dance company with Nicola Lloyd in 2015. My dance journey had just began and I realised how passionate I am about the sport and exploring new ways to move and being creative is what has led me into this path of being a part of Coast.
I auditioned about 2 years ago and really enjoy the environment and choreographers coast has to offer with other opportunities that help me grow as a dancer in the industry. Outside of dance I am a very creative person and enjoy photography and anything media based. My other passion is creating mini music videos and montages that help create memories through my visions and is something that I like to share. For example I had an amazing opportunity at doing charity work in Sri Lanka which was life changing and made me realise how much I love dance as we taught the kids some different style of dances, from the classics like ballet to funnier dances such as the Cha Cha Slide.

After graduating from professional dance training in 2009, I have worked in a variety of roles within the dance sector. I am passionate about providing opportunities for positive experiences in dance and my interest in dance in education and the community has remained at the core of my practice throughout my role as a dancer, dance teacher and dance producer/projects manager.
After postgraduate study at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, I went on to work for Pavilion Dance South West in a coordinator role working in youth and community settings and managing a rich programme of opportunities for young people in the South West to engage with Dance.
More recently, I have had an exciting year within the Learning and Participation (Dance) department at Trinity Laban and was responsible for the co-ordination and management of a range of projects focused around work in secondary schools, widening participation and led on the institutions Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) outreach and recruitment activity.
After a move back to the coast, I am now based in Southampton and have joined the BA (Hons) Dance team at Arts University Bournemouth as a Visiting Tutor. I am contributing across three units on the programme, and I am thrilled to continue to support young people in Higher Education in their lifelong career development as professional artists.
This summer I took 3 months to travel over 8,000 miles through France, Italy, Austria, Germany, Luxembourg and Belgium in my trusty VW LT35 converted camper van!
Now, I am delighted to be returning to Pavilion Dance South West to work with the flagship youth dance company COAST in the development of new work.
