The Troth by Akademi

Performed on 11 November, 2018

Overview

Join us on Remembrance Sunday for a gripping story of love and loss set during World War I.
The Troth blends contemporary dance, original music and archive film.

Moving from rural Punjab to the horrific darkness of the Belgian trenches where young Indian men have been brought to fight for the Allies, we learn about the secret promise made by one soldier, Lehna Singh, as he makes the ultimate sacrifice to save another.

Akademi’s new international dance theatre production is inspired by the classic Hindi short story Usne Kaha Tha.

Direction and Choreography by Gary Clarke, with music by Shri Sriram.

Running time: 60 mins, no interval
Age guidance 8+
May contain haze

This performance will be accompanied by a free photography exhibition by Mark Leaver, featuring portraits of Army veterans.
