Pavilion Dance South West bring artists from all over the UK and beyond to Bournemouth, both to perform and also to use our studios to develop new work. We're looking for local residents with a spare bed or two to sign up to our 'digs' list. If you live within a five mile radius of Pavilion Dance (Westover Road, Bournemouth, BH1 2BU) and have a spare room that you'd be interested in renting out to visiting dancers and choreographers, then we'd love to hear from you.
Further information is provided below.
What is a ‘digs’ list?
A digs list is a list of accommodation within a short distance of a venue available to visiting artists who are looking for affordable places to stay.
Why don’t the artists just stay in hotels?
Sometimes artists may be working in the area for a week or more and for longer stays hotel accommodation can be very expensive, especially during peak seasons, and even with funding this cost can be prohibitive. Sometimes artists may just need to stay for a night or two and some hotels have minimum stay rules which don’t fit with when a room is needed. Also artists, especially dancers who need to eat well, generally prefer to stay in self-catering accommodation so that they have more control over what and when they eat.
I have a spare room, but what’s in it for me?
Typically artists are willing to pay £10-15 per person per night and £70-£100 per person per week. In addition to an extra income, hosting artists is a great way to support the arts and meet interesting people.
Count me in! What do I need to do next?
We will pass your details onto artists and they will get in touch direct to book. Please note that any agreements made are between the artist and you as the landlord, PDSW offers the introduction only.
