Acclaimed film-maker and choreographer Lisa May Thomas is putting the finishing touches to her brand new film project The Touch Diaries. You can help! The work will premiere at ICIA, University of Bath on 9th July 2015 and we need just £3,000 in 5 weeks to transform the final stage of production and make a film of the highest possible quality.
The Touch Diaries Premiere: Thursday 9th July 2015, 18:00-21:00 Weston Studio, The Edge, University of Bath £5
The Touch Diaries is a research project that looks into touch and human connection across generations. Through workshops and a diary-study, we have been finding out about what people think about these themes and how things have changed and are changing in the growth of the digital age. Isolation and loneliness are more and more prevalent in todays world not only for older people but also across younger generations. We are super-connected yet real-life communities are fracturing as socialising and socialisation takes place online. The research has formed the basis for a short dance film The Touch Diaries using the body and movement to express the ideas and stories that have emerged. Book your tickets for the world premiere of The Touch Diaries dance film alongside a taste of live performance work based on the research into touch, connection and community. There will be accompanying discussion with project director Lisa May Thomas and her co-collaborators sound artist Andy Pink, cinematographer Adam DJ Laity of Black Cat Films, executive producer Cheryl Pierce and Simone Fullagar and Stephanie Merchant from the Physical Cultural Studies Group (University of Bath) who are undertaking a reflexive evaluation of the project. There will also be the opportunity to hear experiences from the project participants and performers, see gatherings of the Touch Diary research and participate in interactive touch activities.
