PDSW Commission: Digital Dance works led by a Disabled Artist / Company
We are looking to commission 2 Digital Dance works for online audiences of up to £6,000 each
In April 2021 Pavilion Dance South West was awarded a Culture Recovery Fund grant from Arts Council England and DCMS. We’re now looking to commission two Dance Companies to create short pieces of Digital Dance work that can be created by the end of June 2021 for screening through the PDSW Digital channels.
We’re really interested in proposals that:
Are created specifically for online audiences (we’re open to age range)
Are clear about who the audience is, how you want them to experience the work and why they’ll want to watch it
Have a focus on accessibility. Whether that’s inventive audio descriptions, British Sign Language, Makaton or other ways, you’ll have a real commitment to creating work that serves a wide audience.
Consider a sensory element – taste, touch, smell or feel.
You create Professional Dance-based work and you identify as a disabled artist or company that creates disabled-led dance work.
This is open to people working anywhere in the world. The project is English-speaking.
Closed Captions, British Sign Language, and Otter transcripts / recordings can be made available for meetings – we’ll talk about your support needs and work with you to meet them.
Deadline for applications: Tuesday 27th April, 12 noon
Shortlist and notification of outcome: Wednesday 28th April
Up to 4 digital proposals that the panel think most align with PDSW’s work will be shortlisted.
Zoom Conversations with up to 4 shortlisted applicants: Wednesday 5th May AMClosed Captions available, British Sign Language on request – if Zoom isn’t your preferred format just let us know. We’ll work with you to meet your access needs.
The Panel will include the PDSW Digital Producer, CEO and Artistic Director and a member / leader of a disabled led dance company.
2 recipients notified of outcome: Friday 7th May
Feedback will be offered over email to all applicants if they would like it.
