Ashtanga Yoga with Juliette Hecquet – Autumn 2021

Class information
8th September — 8th December 2021
Running time: 60 minutes

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a style of yoga created by K. Pattabhi Jois during the 20th century, often promoted as a modern-day form of classical Indian yoga.

Ashtanga yoga is energetic, aiming to develop both strength and flexibility whilst synchronising breath with a traditional sequence of postures, introducing new postures as and when these are appropriate.

The aim of yoga is to create unity with body, mind and spirit, as the saying goes ‘yoga is not about touching your toes it’s about what you learn on the way down’.

Jules aim’s to enable you to create the peace and space you need to start or develop a yoga practice and the main aim is to make yoga accessible and enjoyable for all and to have fun with it.

The class is welcoming and easy to follow so perfectly for beginners but is challenging to all levels.

The style of teaching is friendly and relaxed – demonstrating postures and giving verbal and physical adjustments, where appropriate, to ensure alignment to create foundation or develop your practice.

You cannot always control what’s goes on the outside but through yoga you can regain control on the inside, enabling you to step towards physical and emotional wellbeing.

Please bring your own mats to class where possible

Teacher Bio:

Jules Hecquet:

For Jules, yoga is the path of connection, stillness and of space.  She began her journey with yoga whilst working in the fast paced advertising industry, and needed to create some space in her life. Jules fell in love with the power of the mind/body/spirit experience of the practice and wanted to continue with a yoga education. So completing the Yoga Alliance Teaching Training qualification in 2013, and since then hundreds more hours of training to continue that education in both yoga and mindfulness, sees herself forever student of yoga.

Alongside being a lecturer, Jules is currently carrying out a PhD into the experience of yoga. “Yoga continues to teach me every day, on and off the mat,  to breathe, connect, reconnect and grow in the present moment and it’s the biggest honour to get to share it with other people through teaching.

My intention is to enable and support my students, whether you are a beginner or regular practitioner, and to allow you to experience your own joy at what yoga can bring to you.  As a teacher, that’s what I hope and love to share, that yoga is accessible to all, that it is about practice not perfection and it’s fun!  It’s not about touching our toes but what we learn on the way down.”
