Teacher Bio

Lydia Povey

As a child, Lyida trained under both the RAD and ISTD syllabus in ballet, tap, modern and jazz from the age of 6 at her local Bournemouth dance school – First Position School of Dance.

It was here that her passion for teaching was born. “I trained under the Royal Ballet School Associate programme from the age of 8, and here broadened my skills and knowledge further. Remaining at First Position until the age of 18, when I moved to Paris to work in Disneyland Paris as a Parade Performer and Character. After my time in Paris, I returned to the UK where I decided to train to become a qualified dance teacher. I have since trained with the Royal Academy of Dance to become a qualified ballet teacher and have gained registered teacher status with them, also qualifying in the revolutionary Groove Child syllabus. During lockdown, I also trained to become a Barre Fitness instructor and have set up classes in the local area.”
