Far From Home by Alleyne Dance is a dance piece that brings to the stage the humanity of told and untold stories by voices not always heard to Bournemouth.

Bringing Alleyne Dance’s dynamic, powerhouse style to the stage, Far From Home is a hard hitting, atmospheric production that explores the heart of migration, separation and integration.

A must-see for dance lovers from all walks of life this show is a vibrant mix of contemporary, hip hop and street dance. The performance celebrates the diversity of cultures, identities, and backgrounds. It explores immigrants who are forced to seek refuge and the challenges they face due to social or political devastation. Through movement, music, and storytelling, this emotive performance will leave audiences inspired.

Described by The Guardian as “two of British dance’s most compelling movers”, Alleyne Dance is led by twin sisters Kristina and Sade Alleyne. Their style blends contemporary dance with West African, Caribbean, Hip Hop, Kathak and Circus to produce physically powerful, yet graceful, performances.

Performed by 6 professional dancers with a supporting cast of non-professional movers drawn from the Bournemouth community, the performance ensemble will highlight the emotional and mental stresses of migrant families, as well as the impact on local communities where migrants ‘settle’. The performances unpicks the meaning of tolerance and practice of integration.

“Kristina & Sadé Alleyne are leading lights in the dance world currently, both showcasing their clear vision as to what the prominent issues of today are…” (Theatre Full Stop)
