‘Far From Home’ is a dance piece by Alleyne Dance that brings to the stage the humanity of told and untold stories by voices not always heard to Bournemouth

Performed by 6 professional dancers with a supporting cast of non-professional movers drawn from the Bournemouth community, the performance ensemble will highlight the emotional and mental stresses of migrant families, as well as the impact on local communities where migrants ‘settle’. The performances unpicks the meaning of tolerance and practice of integration.

Alleyne Dance is a UK-based company led by award-winning dancers and twin sisters Kristina and Sade Alleyne. Their company style blends contemporary with West African, Caribbean, Hip Hop, Kathak and Circus to produce physically powerful, yet graceful, performances. They perform their choreographies all over the world.

‘Far From Home’ was co-commissioned by The Place, Dance City, DanceEast and Dampfzentrale Berlin.

It was funded by an Arts Council England National Lottery Grant with additional support from Trinity Laban.
