Wellbeing: Mindful Breath, Mindful Movement

Our Wellbeing classess are a feel-good way for carers to stay active, meet others, and enjoy ‘me time.’ Our friendly foyer will be open for a pre-session social cuppa.

Mindful Breath, Mindful Movement is a gentle class to connect with the rhythm of the breath and explore the benefits of breath led movement, helping to melt away tension in the body and mind and strengthening our ability to focus on the moment.

We will look at breathing techniques to enhance the relaxation response in the body and synchronise the breath with flowing movements, bringing all our awareness into the body as we move and stretch. Experience a sense of ease, stillness and peace and create space in the body for the breath and energy to flow.

No previous experience is necessary. We invite you to enjoy a relaxed movement and breath session which can be practiced seated if you prefer not be floor based or standing. Comfy clothes which allow you to breathe and move freely are recommended.

The classes are also open beyond carers, to those identified and signposted by other Adult Social Care teams, GPs and those who ‘self-book.’ For participants aged 18+.

Meet the teacher: Julie Hand

Julie has lived and worked in the Bournemouth area for over 20 years facilitating movement for health through yoga, conscious breathing and, more recently, the Parkinson’s Dance Science Model.  Her focus is on breath awareness and the benefits of breath led movement to promote health, well-being and peace of mind.

Julie studied at the Laban Centre for Movement and Dance before going on to train to teach Exercise to Music and, later, qualifying with the British Wheel of Yoga. Helping people to find the joy of movement and BE in their bodies is her passion.
