Performance information
5th January — 13th March 2022

PDSW is proud to present:

Origins 2022

A live performance platform for young dancers, schools & youth dance groups across the South West to showcase their creative dance work. This year we will also feature a number of dance film works.

Applications are now open for Origins 2022, hosted by PDSW, taking place on Sunday 13 March 2022.

Origins 2022 is the South West regional platform of U.Dance, which is delivered in partnership with One Dance UK.

We want to hear from individuals, school groups, youth dance groups, dance schools & collectives from Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole, Dorset, Gloucestershire,  Hampshire, Somerset, North Somerset, Devon, Southampton, Portsmouth, Isle of Wight, Bath & North East Somerset, Swindon, Cornwall & Wiltshire. Applications for Origins are open to all dancers aged 11-19 years & up to 25 years for dancers with disabilities. All dance styles & genres welcome.

You may submit a piece for live performance (Dance on Stage entry) or a filmed dance piece (Dance on Screen entry).

We particularly wish to champion dance groups that celebrate inclusivity & would be delighted to hear from those who have not entered a platform before.

Deadline for applications: Monday 7 February 2022

PDSW will host this fabulous live event, celebrating the variety and diversity of youth dance from across the South West. Shortlisted participants will come together in our beautiful seafront venue and perform live. For the first time, the event will also feature a selected number of digital performances of original screen dance films.

Dancers submitting live work must be available to travel to Bournemouth to participate on Sunday 13th March & be accompanied by supervising adult youth leaders. Those invited to perform will be shortlisted & notified by Friday 18 February 2022

After the nationwide regional platforms, groups may be selected to showcase their piece (live or screened) at the U.Dance National Festival 2022 (22-24 July) in Glasgow, drawing together some of the most innovative and ambitious youth dance work from across the entire country.
