Writing to Change the World

Performance information
26th April 2024
Running time: 60 minutes

Author and founder of Green Stories shows how to write stories that inspire

Denise Baden, Professor of Sustainable Practice, Southampton University

Writing for a cause can result in preachy writing and info-dumping, but done well it can inspire readers and give writers a profound sense of purpose and meaning. In this session, Professor Denise Baden will share her research on readers’ responses to stories and provide examples from her novel ‘Habitat Man,’ her play ‘Murder in the Citizens’ Jury,’ and the anthology she edited ‘No More Fairy Tales: Stories to Save Our Planet’ to show what works well, what doesn’t work and why.

Come prepared to write and brainstorm around your ideas. Those who are happy to share can get feedback.
