Youth Contemporary 13-16yrs with Marta Ammendola (Autumn 2020)

Running time: 60 minutes

Explore contemporary dance learning different techniques such as floorwork, release, Cunningham and Contact Improvisation. This class will help you to develop your skills as a performer and it will challenge your creativity.


Important information for all classes in the studio:

  •  All classes must be booked in advance. Tickets will not be available on the door.
  • Doors to PDSW will only open 10 minutes before your class. Please do not arrive earlier than this time.
  •  The changing rooms are currently closed so please come dressed ready for your class.
  •  Please bring dance shoes, or an indoor pair of trainers. Outdoor shoes are not allowed to be worn in the studio. All shoes should have non-marking soles.
  • Water coolers can be accessed but you must bring your own water bottle.
  • If you are attending the Yoga class you will need to bring your own mat.

Teacher Bio 

Marta Ammendola:

Marta, originally from Italy, is a freelance dance artist, practitioner and lecturer based in Bournemouth, UK . Her dance career started from a young age at the Vic Ballet School in Verona, where she specialised in Ballet, Contemporary Dance and Movement Improvisation. In 2011, Marta moved to London, where she graduated with a First Class degree from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance: here she received excellent training to prepare her for performing, choreographing and teaching.

After graduating, Marta worked with artists such as Jo Lawrence (film director) and Henrietta Hale (choreographer), whilst also creating and showcasing her own work. Since relocating to Bournemouth in 2016, Marta has worked as a freelance dance artist and practitioner for PDSW, Hampshire Cultural Trust and multiple local schools, engaging in both Educational and Community settings.

In 2020, Marta started working as a Visiting Tutor for Arts University Bournemouth as part of the Dance Faculty team, she has collaborated with visual artist Emily Hawes in the creation and performance of These supple waters and she has coordinated the production of  Art Asia’ Belonging: a multidisciplinary project commissioned and funded by Southampton City Council for the Mayflower 400th anniversary.
