Wonderlust is an innovative five-week long interactive arts project, tracing the 296-mile Cornish coastal path.

An exciting and inspiring arts project open to all, Wonderlust will comprise a series of performances and events between Morwenstow and Plymouth, offering unique experiences and facilitating a sense of wonder and well-being in the world. The project is being led by Becki Nevin and Emma Lewis-Jones, two dance makers working across disciplines. The pair will be joined along the way by a number of contributing and visiting artists and anyone who wants to take part.

An interactive community orientated performance project, Wonderlust comprises of a series of workshops and performances, an evolving online presence, photography, new writing and events with artists, communities and festivals in coastal areas.

Wonderlust is a chance to witness and be part of contemporary performance in the heart of the Cornish summer, a choreographic score moving through the landscape. Becki and Emma will explore geographical and human relationships with edges: the meeting of land and sea and the history of the coast, creating a ‘performed map’ that connects disparate communities with a sense of the Cornish coast as a whole.

“This is a complex and extraordinary challenge,” says Antony Waller, co-director of Dance Republic 2. “Wonderlust is a brave and inspirational piece of work that offers a unique experience for those participants and audiences who can join the performers along their journey.”

With a series of performances, workshops and participatory events spanning the South West Coast Path, Wonderlust kicks off in Morwenstow on 1 June, ending in Plymouth on 5 July. There are many ways to get involved in Wonderlust: you can watch a performance, take part in a workshop, join a walk along the coastal path, share your experiences of living and working on the coast or follow the journey online at and on Twitter using the #wonderlustproject.
