About The Monocle Community Cast Cabaret Workshops

Cabaret Workshops & Community Cast Opportunity

We are excited to announce The Monocle, coming to our theatre in February 2026, a bold and joyful dance theatre production by Rendez-Vous Dance. Set in a 1930s Parisian underground nightclub, this powerful show blends sharp choreography, live jazz, and emotionally rich storytelling to celebrate queer love, identity, and history.

Are you ready to Dance, Perform, and have Fun?

Alongside the show, women and those who identify as female are invited to join Cabaret Dance Workshops led by Ruby Adams. No dance experience is needed, just enthusiasm and a willingness to move.

Participants will have the chance to perform in The Monocle here in our Ocean Theatre on Friday 6th February (funding dependent). Workshops run on 15 Nov, 10 Jan, and 31 Jan from 10am–12noon. Spaces are now sold out.  A waiting list is now live.  Contact our team on 01202 203630 or via email info@pdsw.org.uk if you wish to be added.

About The Monocle

Step into the smoky glamour of 1930s Paris and experience The Monocle, a bold and powerful show from Rendez-Vous Dance. Inspired by the famous underground lesbian nightclub, this performance mixes sharp choreography, strong storytelling, and live jazz music.

Choreographer Mathieu Geffré and dramaturg Andrew Gardiner bring this story to life with beautiful and moving dance. On stage, six women fall in love, enjoy freedom, and dance the night away, while singer Imogen Banks fills the space with her rich, emotional voice.

Now, The Monocle returns for a UK tour from Autumn 2025. Once again, it shines a light on LGBTQIA+ stories, past and present. This joyful and emotional show turns theatres into buzzing jazz clubs, giving audiences a night full of energy, beauty, and meaning. Tickets for the performance will be on sale soon.
