About Banter

Banter are all about having a great night of traditional English dance tunes and songs, played with a cheeky twist…

Featuring Simon Care on squeezeboxes, Nina Zella on piano and vocals and Tim Walker on percussion and cornet. Banter are one of the “must-see” bands on the English folk circuit.

With appearances at all the go to  festivals they promise a great show that is guaranteed to leave you smiling and moving!

Although just four people, they create a huge sound and have been described as the world’s smallest big band.

What is a Ceilidh?

A ceilidh (pronounced Kaylee) is a social folk dance rooted in Celtic traditions. A caller leads participants through each dance, ensuring everyone can join in and have a great time. You do not need a partner or experience. The emphasis is on enjoying the rhythm, laughter, and connection with fellow dancers.

Held in our stunning Ocean Theatre, our ceilidhs are open to everyone. These events are more than just dances; they’re an opportunity to share in the joy of music, movement, and community.
