About Festive Ceilidh 2026
Our much loved Festive Ceilidh is back, bringing an evening of vibrant live music and irresistible dancing. We are thrilled to welcome Jigfoot to the theatre for a lively, feel good night that will have everyone on their feet.
About Jigfoot
Jigfoot play music for dancing, approaching traditional dance tunes with energy, inventiveness and, above all, swing. This is music that defies you to stay still, whether at a dance or in concert.
Their repertoire is mainly from southern English sources, especially Hampshire, and they work closely with dancers Simon and Jo Harmer to develop material inspired by southern English step dancing.
They have performed ceilidhs at festivals including Shrewsbury Folk Festival, Sidmouth Folk Week, Chippenham Folk Festival, Hastings Jack in the Green, Wimborne Minster Folk Festival, Bridport Folk Festival and Bunkfest.
What is a Ceilidh?
A ceilidh (pronounced Kaylee) is a social folk dance rooted in Celtic traditions. A caller leads participants through each dance, ensuring everyone can join in and have a great time. You do not need a partner or experience. The emphasis is on enjoying the rhythm, laughter, and connection with fellow dancers.
Held in our stunning Ocean Theatre, our ceilidhs are open to everyone. These events are more than just dances; they’re an opportunity to share in the joy of music, movement, and community.
Book your tickets early to secure your place at this magical Festive Ceilidh celebration – our ceilidhs often sell out!
