News Story

Pavilion Dance’s adult contemporary dance company, Co Evo delighted the theatre audience for RONiN with their curtain raiser performance, choreographed by Japanese artist, Yukiko Masui.

Ahead of new show RONiN, a spectacular visual feast of dance, martial arts, animation, projection and moving imagery that came to Bournemouth this Summer, Co Evo worked with show creator Yukiko to create a short ’samurai’ inspired piece to open the show.

Inspired by the story of the first female samurai, Co Evo worked with large bamboo sticks to recreate a martial arts inspired piece.  Yukiko created the choreography and worked with Co Evo Artistic Director, Claire Benson and 10 of the company dancers to create a short show outdoors to give the audience a flavour of what was to come.
