As we celebrate 15 years at our seaside home in Bournemouth, Pavilion Dance South West also marks an inspiring milestone — 13 years of Parkinson’s Dance.
The Parkinson’s Dance Science approach, co-founded in 2012 by neuro-physiotherapist Dr. Sophia Hulbert and dance artist Aimee Hobbs with the support of Pavilion Dance, blends physiotherapy knowledge with the creative expression of dance. Together, they’ve developed an evidence-based, personal, and joyful programme designed to help people living with Parkinson’s move, connect, and thrive.
At the heart of every class are the dancers themselves — a community that continues to inspire and shape our mission to make dance accessible for all. Since its beginnings, the programme has grown to include multiple classes across Dorset and Hampshire and over 20 trained practitioners, reaching even more people through movement and music.

To keep this incredible work going, our community laced up their running shoes for the Run Bournemouth Supernova 5k on Saturday 11 October, raising funds to support our Run for Wellbeing campaign. It was an evening filled with light, laughter, and movement. A celebration of dance, resilience, and togetherness.
Thanks to our amazing runners and supporters, we raised over £1,400, helping to ensure that Parkinson’s Dance and similar wellbeing programmes continue to bring joy, connection, and confidence to all who take part.
At Pavilion Dance, we believe in the transformative power of movement, and this event reminded us that when our community comes together, anything is possible.
