News Story
We were delighted to welcome our community to Pavilion Dance South West last week for a special Parkinson’s Dance Awareness Afternoon, marking both World Parkinson’s Day and 14 years of Parkinson’s Dance.
The event brought people together for an afternoon centred on creativity, connection, and shared experience. Participants took part in a joyful singing workshop led by Fiona Pritchard, followed by an uplifting Parkinson’s Dance class with Aimee Hobbs and Samantha Gillingham. There was also a calming and creative Glass & Pebble workshop with Jo Malyon, offering a different way to engage through making and reflection.
Alongside the workshops, the space was filled with conversation and connection, with time to socialise over tea, cake, and a lively tombola. It was a chance not only to take part in activities, but to spend time together, share stories, and strengthen the sense of community that has grown around Parkinson’s Dance over the past 14 years.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our Wellbeing Producer, Lisa Lort, for bringing this event together with such care and thoughtfulness. Thanks also go to all the artists, staff, and volunteers who helped make the afternoon so welcoming and memorable.
Most importantly, thank you to everyone who joined us. Your energy, openness, and support are what continue to make this community so special.
