News Story
Our youth dance company, Coast is set to take part in Making Moves 2025/2026, an inspiring national programme led by Sadler’s Wells. Over the coming months, the company will dive into the world of Hip-Hop theatre, using the Making Moves toolkit created by acclaimed multidisciplinary artist Ivan Blackstock. Their work will lead to a brand-new piece for the 2026 regional platform, where youth companies from across the country showcase original choreography.
Making Moves connects young dancers with the ideas of some of today’s most exciting choreographers, raising the profile of dance in school and youth settings and offering the unique opportunity to perform on a Sadler’s Wells stage.
This year’s toolkit creator, Ivan Blackstock, is a South London-born artist known internationally for his bold, political, and genre-defying work. His choreography has featured in venues such as Sadler’s Wells, La Villette (Paris), and ITA (Amsterdam), as well as in award-winning film and music projects, including Beyoncé’s Black Is King and the Grammy-winning Brown Skin Girl. Alongside his performance work, he is the founder of CRXSS PLATFXRM and the media company ALTRUVIOLET, with his production TRAPLORD winning the 2023 Olivier Award for Best New Dance Production.
We can’t wait to see how Coast brings this exciting creative challenge to life. Watch this space!
