Holly Thomas and Dorset Blind Association Meet and Greet

This Tuesday, we had the opportunity to host a special meet and greet here at Pavilion Dance, with the Dorset Blind Association. The event featured a preview of Holly Thomas' upcoming performance "Half Light." It provided an engaging and inclusive experience for the visually impaired and blind community, showcasing Holly's innovative approach to dance.

Holly Thomas is a visually impaired dance artist, choreographer, and performer. She excels in inclusive choreography and embodied audio-description for dance. Her performance, "Half Light", reimagines dance by focusing on sensory perception. It explores our relationship with the natural world during twilight and night. By blending choreography, text, and an immersive sound design, Holly's work transcends the visual. It draws from her lived experiences of visual impairment, motherhood, and nature.

This event offered a glimpse into Holly's work ahead while providing a welcoming space for attendees. Not to mention it was complete with tea and biscuits! It was a delightful and inclusive gathering and opened up a discussion about what we as an organisation can do to ensure we are truly accessible for all. We look forward to more events like this!
