News Story

We're excited to share news of an inspiring new initiative that's helping to bring together the rich and diverse creative community across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

The BCP Cultural Compact is a partnership of local organisations - including Pavilion Dance South West - working together to support artists, build networks, and champion culture across the region. Its mission is to help deliver the area's cultural strategy and ensure that creativity continues to thrive, even in challenging times.

This Spring, the Compact launched its very first Culture Network event - a free gathering that welcomed over 60 creative professionals from all backgrounds and disciplines. Held at the Foundry in Poole, the event created a space for open conversation, collaboration and new ideas. Artists from theatre, dance, visual art, music, poetry, and more came together to share experiences and discuss ways to connect with wider audiences.

It was wonderful to see so much energy in the room. It really reinforced just how vibrant our cultural sector is, and how much we can achieve by working together.

The Compact is also committed to supporting freelancers - with ten local artists paid the Real Living Wage to attend the event, ensuring that time and expertise are recognised and valued.

Looking ahead, the next Culture Network event will take place in Bournemouth on Thursday 3 July - and we hope to see even more of the creative community there.

This is just the beginning of a growing network that celebrates creativity, builds connections, and makes space for new voices. We're proud to be part of it.
