My Placement Year at Pavilion Dance as Marketing Officer

News Story
My placement year at Pavilion Dance has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my university journey. Working as a Marketing Officer gave me the opportunity to develop practical skills in digital marketing, content creation, website management, email campaigns, and event promotion, while working within a very supportive and creative team.
Beyond the professional experience, what stood out most was seeing first-hand the impact that dance and movement can have on people's lives. Through performances, classes, workshops, and community projects, I saw how dance can bring people together, build confidence, improve wellbeing, and create a sense of belonging. Some of my favourite dance performances in theatre were RONiN and Burnt Offering and I also loved all the Revues and Dancing Terraces.

The placement also allowed me to work on exciting projects and campaigns, take ownership of my work, and gain confidence in my abilities. I was encouraged to be creative, try new ideas, and learn from both successes and challenges.
Most importantly, this year has shown me the value of accessible arts and culture, and the important role marketing plays in connecting people with those experiences. I leave Pavilion Dance with new skills, greater confidence, lasting memories with a wonderful team, and a genuine appreciation for the positive impact creative organisations can have within their communities.
