News Story

We re-ignited our South West Dance Summit, for the first time since Covid, to gather regional artists, producers and programmers together again in person.  An opportunity to connect on what is shaping and evolving in our region. There were artist pitches, a panel discussing some of the challenges facing the sector and world cafe problem-solving sessions.

"I found the artist pitches all brilliant and so diverse.  Was impressed by everyone's generosity and a positive feeling of pulling together."

The overall vibe was one of positivity and hope, whilst recognising there's some clear challenges for the dance sector.  A huge thanks to all the pitching artists and to our panellists for their insights and discussion. Much more to do but a great sense of pulling together and recognition that more connection in the region is much needed and welcomed.

"A very valuable and inspiring event. I especially appreciated the opportunity to meet other artists and exchange ideas. The atmosphere was welcoming and supportive, and I would attend similar events in the future."

Thank you to the panel:

June Gamble: Arts Manager & Consultant

Viv Slayford: Director & CEO of Swindon Dance
