News Story

And that’s a wrap for The Snails’ Dragon Tale primary schools tour 2025. It’s time for us to ES-CAR-GO!

9 schools over 3 weeks, 9 shows, 22 workshops, over 700x children involved led by local dance artists Jazz Gritt and Katie Neal.  A huge thanks to all schools involved: St Mary’s, St Luke’s, St Walburga’s, Malmesbury Park, St Ives, St Katharine’s, Livingstone Academy, Christchurch Juniors, and Victoria Livability School, and to BCP’s Cultural Hub for their funding support to make this possible.

Our Autumn commission ‘The Snails’ Dragon Tale’ is a new children's dance work for children age 7-11 (KS2) encompassing Contemporary and Street Dance styles, created by local dance artists Katie Neal and Jazz Gritt.  Drawing inspiration from the story of The Bloodstone of Maiden Castle (Dorchester), created by Dorset storyteller Martin Maudsley, this immersive work blends myth, adventure, and breathtaking performance. The story follows the courageous Scarlett and Sandy on their journey through the snowy hills and inside the depths of the dragon. The Snails Dragon Tale uses dance to animate their journey down the Silver Trail, outrunning danger and escaping the dragon's cave!

If you’re a school teacher and are keen for this event to happen in your school next Autumn contact Amy Reynolds (etc) to register your interest.

It was a wonderful experience for the children to witness a live dance performance. Opportunities like this not only bring joy but also inspire creativity, cultural appreciation, and a deeper connection to the arts. Thank you for providing such an engaging and memorable event for our students - they loved it!

This was superb! 5 stars. Highly recommended. The children were incredibly engaged!

Jamie Stokes, Year 5 teacher, St Ives Primary

We loved The Snails’ Dragon Tale story - it was so imaginative and descriptive. The children’s favourite parts of the show were the music, when they used the ribbons, the snowball fight, when they were scared and running away, and the lifts were amazing!
