Visiting Artists
We believe the best way to get to know artists is to see them at work. Our Visiting Artist programme provides the opportunity to spend a week at our venue. Artists can design their week with us in ways that are best suited to their needs. Whether artists are interested in exploring new ideas in the studio, in meeting with our creative team for production advice, or in exchanging practice with fellow artists, we are there to support as much (or as little) as needed.
Visiting Artists are invited to connect with us and our communities in ways that are most helpful for them in their journey of discovery. Be it work-in-progress sharings or social media takeovers, we work with artists to find ways for others to gain unique insight into their work. There are no set outcomes to deliver, only potential opportunities for artists and their ideas to meet people.
How do I become a Visiting Artist?
There are two open calls per year and we will select two artists for each callout (one from the South West and one from anywhere in England). We welcome applications from artists at any stage of their career.
Summer Residency - July
Our summer residency is designed for artists to finish a specific performance project. Your project might have gone through an initial research and development phase and is ready to be further developed into a finished show.
Call out for this residency goes live in January each year.
Winter Residency - December
Our winter residency is for exploration of artistic practice. You can use this as an opportunity to test new ideas or simply to have some quiet, reflective time about your practice.
Call out for this residency goes live in June each year.
Our open calls are accessed via our website or social media. Application is via written form, voice note or video. You will need to submit filmed examples of your work.
Thanks again for your amazing support and for this fantastic opportunity
Pavilion Dance has provided me with a little escape; some breathing space to revisit and reflect on my work, and the opportunity to get into it, uninterrupted and with no pressure. As a London-based artist, this is a little bit of luxury
