Ian Dolan

Before moving to the South West, Ian did most of his growing up in the Midlands. Somewhere along the way he fell into dance - after bouncing off gymnastics, climbing trees, basketball and having far too much energy to ever sit still. He trained at Coventry University and then at Laban, where he was a member of Transitions Dance Company. As a performer, he toured across and beyond Europe for 15 years while developing a portfolio career.
He's approach to movement is particularly influenced by his time working with; Earthfall, Filip Van Huffel (Retina Dance Company), Tom Roden (New Art Club), Lea Anderson and Gary Clarke. His work is a mix of dynamic efficiency, theatricality, nuance and play. As well as his freelance work he's the rehearsal director for Cie Willi Dorner's project 'Bodies in Urban Spaces' and makes his own work under the name "Dirtmarket".
If it where possible he would spend all of his time upside down or on the floor and his classes offer you an opportunity to do the same.
