If you’re looking to push your dance training, perform exclusively created choreography and make incredible friends then COAST is for you.
COAST Youth Dance Company is our resident company for dancers aged 14 – 19 years from across Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and surrounding areas.
Based on auditions that take place twice yearly, COAST meet and train for 3 hours weekly and spend time during school holidays with nationally renowned choreographers such as Zoie Golding (ZoieLogic), 2Faced Dance Company and Uchenna Dance.
They are invited to perform at multiple platforms across the region, to advocate on behalf of PDSW and to volunteer for PDSW events. Dancers also watch professional dance work as part of their annual fee.
Led by South West Community Dance Practitioner Sophie Douglas, participants have the opportunity to undertake work experience with us, deliver an Arts Award and consult on the direction the company will take next. We regularly ask them what they want to do with COAST, who they want to work with and where they want to perform. As a result of such conversations with the 2018 COAST cohort the company will tour to local schools delivering performances and peer-led workshops, and will receive training in enterprise and fundraising skills.
There is also a COAST representative role available for aspiring leaders.
There is a participation fee of £360 per year.
COAST is a safe space open to all genders and welcome dancers from different backgrounds and different dance styles.
