If you’re looking to advance your dance training, perform professional work regularly and make incredible friends then COAST is for you.

COAST Youth Dance Company is our resident company for dancers aged 14 – 19 years (up to 25 years for young people with disabilities) from across Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and surrounding areas.

Based on annual audition workshops, COAST company members train for 2.5 hours weekly with Artistic Director Katie Neal, as well as intensives with nationally renowned choreographers such as Richard Chappell and Ceyda Tanc.

Next Auditions on 24 June 2024 & 22 July 2024

They are invited to perform at multiple platforms across the region, advocate on behalf of Pavilion Dance and to volunteer for our events. The company also watch professional work at Pavilion Dance and have exclusive workshops with touring companies such as VERVE and Chhaya Collective.

In our 2022-23 season COAST had the pleasure of welcoming Cam Crook for a Music for Dance workshop series and performed curtain raisers for Rendez-Vous Dance and 2Faced Dance Company.

We regularly ask our young people what they want to achieve with COAST, who they want to work with and where they want to perform. They receive careers advice, dance pathway opportunities, training in enterprise and fundraising skills. With a broad range of expertise across the Pavilion Dance team, COAST company members have access and understanding to varied arts careers roles. Aspiring leaders can apply for our COAST representative role who consult on the direction of the company and voice the ideas form the wider group.

Term runs from September to June, with auditions taking place in the summer term.

There is a participation fee of £455 per year. This works out at approximately £5 per hour for professional training activity. Bursaries are available.

COAST is a safe space open to all genders and welcomes dancers from different backgrounds and different dance styles.
