About Bow and Box

Bow and Box is a captivating folk duo hailing from the scenic South Coast, renowned for delivering exhilarating ceilidh experiences, engaging concerts, and a subtly beautiful background ambience.  

Drawing inspiration from the innovative spirit of esteemed folk ensembles like Leveret, Bow and Box place their deep, unspoken connection and intuitive musicianship at the heart of their craft. Together, they weave sensational music characterised by intoxicating melodies that linger in the air and powerful rhythms that irresistibly compel your feet to move. What is a Ceilidh?

A ceilidh (pronounced Kaylee) is a social folk dance rooted in Celtic traditions. A caller leads participants through each dance, ensuring everyone can join in and have a great time. You do not need a partner or experience. The emphasis is on enjoying the rhythm, laughter, and connection with fellow dancers.

Held in our stunning Ocean Theatre, our ceilidhs are open to everyone. These events are more than just dances; they’re an opportunity to share in the joy of music, movement, and community.
