About Poetry En Plein Air (Poetry Walk)
A 90-minute poetry workshop walking and writing around Bournemouth, honing the essential writers' skills of observation and note-taking.
Who says you have to be sat at a desk to write? In fact, inspiration rarely comes when we are sat still, staring at our screen or notebook. Sometimes, you need to get out and go for a walk, observe your surroundings and all the life bubbling around you. Taking fieldnotes - whether with notebook and pen or on your phone - is a vital skill for all writers, but especially for poets. Poetry is, after all, a form close looking, of paying attention in such a way that it makes the everyday feel completely new. In this 90-minute walking poetry workshop, we will explore Bournemouth from the shops to the beach, making poetic field-notes as we go, taking inspiration from our surroundings as well as from the work of poets such as Rebecca Perry and John McCullough.
