Our Supported Artists are companies and independent artists with whom we have agreed to invest time and resources to develop a more meaningful relationship – one that benefits the artist, ourselves, and our learning and achievements together. We share a vision and our values play a central role in our relationship:

We support artists in various ways, including the provision of financial support, space to practise and use our facilities at Pavilion Dance, access to our beautiful dance house by the sea; and through on-going conversations and connections via a network of experienced dance professionals. We can also offer small commissions for work that meet with our artistic vision, considering alternative presentation contexts while putting the audience at the heart of the creative process.

How do I become a supported artist?

There is no formal application process or call out for our supported artist and the relationship usually comes from organic conversations we have with artists to see how their practice aligns with our work.

There are several steps which lead up to becoming a Supported Artist: introducing us to your work, becoming a Visiting Artist or simply sharing your artistic journey with us through conversation and performance.

We are always keen to meet new artists whose vision and values match with ours, and we are excited to learn about the work you are doing. In the first instance, we suggest you sign up for our Artist Newsletter to keep up to date with news and opportunities at Pavilion Dance. There are opportunities every summer and winter to become a Visiting Artist; where you can meet our team and work in our professional dance studios. See our Visiting Artist page for details.

To become a Supported Artist and to be programmed in our theatre, the Pavilion Dance team will need to first see your work live.
